Denny Ilett is an accomplished arranger who has written charts for many legendary musicians, including Paul Jones (Manfred Mann), Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown), Bobby Shew (legendary trumpet star), Shirley Bassey (on her remix album) and many others.
Denny also arranges all the music for his Jimi Hendrix project, Electric Lady Big Band.
His style is based on many influences, including Nelson Riddle, Neal Hefti, Ernie Wilkins and Ronnie Hazelhurst.
Denny regularly takes on commissions to write original charts for various artists and transcribe music to be performed by orchestras worldwide. Such projects include transcribing the entire James Bond collection of themes for full orchestra alongside shows such as Sounds For Spies And Private Eyes, a huge collection of theme and incidental music focusing on 1960s and 1970s jazz-oriented spy and cop show soundtracks. Ilett also produced the show Cult Fiction Live, which prioritised more 60s and 70s soundtracks from film and TV with a jazz and big band flavour.
Denny has also transcribed a large amount of classic Swing Era charts from Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Harry James, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and others.
